Brunch near the Prado Museum: the perfect weekend plan in Madrid

Brunch near the Prado Museum: brunch table with eggs Benedict, coffee and a mimosa by the window at Stillroom, Los Jerónimos (Madrid)

Madrid’s Art Walk is much more than museums; it is also the perfect setting for an unhurried museum-and-brunch plan in Madrid. If you are wondering where to have brunch near the Prado Museum, the answer is STILLROOM, Calle Moreto 9, a two-minute walk from the gallery. Here we serve a signature brunch from Wednesday to Sunday, in a warm, intimate corner where cocktail making and our own kitchen live alongside homemade ferments. Discover STILLROOM and get ready for a different experience, far from the passing-trade cafés.

Where to have brunch near the Prado Museum

We are not your typical tourist café, but a neighbourhood gastro cocktail bar with our own kitchen. On our shelves, fermentation jars sit alongside a small copper still and, above all, the natural light that floods the space during brunch. Here you will not find ordinary breakfasts: we serve impeccable eggs Benedict, New York-style bagels, pancakes, fresh juices and live ferments such as our roasted pineapple tepache.

The location is unbeatable for anyone looking to have breakfast near the Prado Museum with something more than a quick coffee. Barely two minutes separate the Jerónimos façade from our dining room, so the leap from art to table is instant. And since we serve brunch from Wednesday to Sunday, it fits perfectly with a cultural morning at the museum or a morning walk through the Retiro.

Two minutes from the museum door

Leave the Prado through the area by the Jerónimos church — the quieter back façade — and before you have time to pull out your phone you will be on Calle Moreto. At number 9, tucked between the bustle of the Paseo del Prado and the aristocratic calm of Los Jerónimos, STILLROOM awaits. It is a quiet street that sees barely any tourist traffic; it feels like stepping into a Madrid of locals, with its classic façades. Here is the walking route from the Prado so you do not lose a single minute.

The perfect plan: museum in the morning, brunch at midday

The Prado Museum opens its doors at 10:00; we raise the shutters at 11:00, Wednesday to Sunday. That handover turns any morning of art into a perfectly threaded museum-and-brunch plan in Madrid: the galleries first, the table afterwards. To help you picture how the pieces fit together, here are four combinations that really work:

Your plan How brunch fits in
Museum first thing You go into the Prado at 10:00, take in the galleries that interest you most and, around 11:30, walk two minutes to STILLROOM. Brunch awaits as the perfect reward after the art.
Brunch first, museum in the afternoon You would rather eat without watching the clock: you arrive for brunch at 11:00, as soon as we open, enjoy eggs, bagels and coffee at your leisure, and head to the museum for the afternoon session with renewed energy.
A walk through the Retiro or the Botanical Garden You start the day with a morning walk through Retiro Park or the Royal Botanical Garden, head to Moreto 9 at 11:00 for brunch, and then, if you fancy it, make your way to the museum without any rush. The route is short and pleasant.
A full Sunday Museum at 10:00, brunch at 11:30 and, in the afternoon, you come back to STILLROOM for a vermouth. On Sundays we stay open until 23:00 with vermouth in the afternoon, so you can round off the day without watching the clock.

What awaits you at the table

Our brunch menu is short but confident. The eggs Benedict come with poached egg, silky hollandaise and a creamy avocado base on toast; the scrambled eggs arrive creamy and in several combinations; the New York-style bagels compete with the fluffy pancakes and the French toast. It is all washed down with coffee, freshly squeezed juice, mimosas or our homemade ferments: the roasted pineapple tepache — lightly fizzy — and the raspberry and strawberry lacto-ferments we make in house. Take a look at the brunch menu and, if you would like to know how we tell it in full, here is our brunch by the Retiro in detail.

On Wednesday and Thursday, from 11:00 to 17:00, unhurried; on Friday and Saturday, from 11:00 to 15:00; and on Sundays, from 11:00 to 16:00. Midweek the day does not end there: on Wednesday and Thursday we stay open until 19:00, with the small-plates kitchen, the sweets and the cocktails taking over from brunch — a comfortable window for an afternoon bite or the first drink of the evening. On Friday and Saturday we close after brunch and reopen from 19:00 to 01:30 with signature cocktails and small plates: the ideal window for anyone looking for where to eat near the Prado in the evening, and for lingering on to the last cocktail. On Sundays there is no break: brunch, afternoon vermouth and closing at 23:00. We are closed on Monday and Tuesday. We recommend bearing this in mind when planning your museum visit.
